Fun Weekend
I played three softball games today — my defense still needs some work, but my offense is working out. I was one for three in the first game, four for four in the second, and one for three in the third game. I need to find my way to the batting cages!
It’s funny … at some point, over the course of every game I play, the other players discover that I own the Excalibur of all bats and start using it. I don’t have a problem with it — in fact, I’m more than happy to let them use it — although some acknowledgment would be nice.
Yesterday was Free Comic Book Day so I moseyed on over to the Comics Dungeon across the street and picked up a few. Four storm troopers were standing outside the storefront, in very realistic looking armor. Boba Fett was there, too. So cool!
Aside from the free stuff, I also picked up an unopened first issue of X-Force, and a new Thor comic that I think Michael will enjoy. Comics are an old love of mine. I used to be obsessed with the X-Men, and collecting comic trading cards. I bought comic books after church every Sunday when I was a kid. I’ve been pretty excited about the movies that are coming out, and the fact that I some of the comic book trivia I know has come in handy.
In other fun news — I just got an email from my mom and she wants a Nintendo Wii for Mother’s Day! She is so cute. I think after playing Wii Sports with me and Michael, she is hooked. She also wants to get the Wii Fit game. I told her we’ll see what we can do.
Oh yeah, I saw Iron Man on Friday night, and absolutely loved it. Robert Downey Jr. did a great job, and he wasn’t bad to look at, either.
Finally, a comic-based movie that was cast correctly! Well, okay, half of X-men was cast correctly: Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier was the obvious choice; Ian McKellen was an excellent Magneto; Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was also a good call. I liked Tobey Maguire as Spider Man in the first movie — after a while, his personality just got annoying.
And then there are the flops: the other half of the X-Men, Daredevil, Elektra, The Punisher, The Fantastic Four, the Val Kilmer and George Clooney Batman movies, and the first Hulk Movie.
Speaking of which — in the theater for Iron Man, I saw the trailer for the new Hulk and it looks AWESOME. Edward Norton — why didn’t they think of that earlier? I love that guy. He does the multiple-personality roles especially well.
That pretty much sums up my weekend — I don’t really want to go to work tomorrow, but we’ll see how it goes. Good night for now!

We still need to play tennis!q My vintage tennis raquets are collecting dust in my room, just begging for one good game before they shatter into deadly splinters.
