Thank you, Randy Pausch

I just finished watching Randy Pausch’s last lecture on YouTube and I am simply a mess of tears right now.

Most of you have probably already heard — since I only recently discovered the phenomenon — but Randy Paucsh is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon who is dying of pancreatic cancer.  His last lecture on following your dreams has become a YouTube sensation.  It just doesn’t seem right that someone with so much vitality, someone with so much to give to the world has to die at 47, his kids not even old enough to understand so many messages he wants to tell them.

I feel very inspired.  I have finally found some perspective.

Am I a Tigger or an Eeyore?  I choose to be happy.  That doesn’t mean that I’m going to ignore all the f’ed up things in the world and not grieve every once in a while.  But I have so much to give, and I’m not going to wait around for other people to recognize that.  I recognize it in myself, and that is enough.
