Interesting things are happening …
Today was an eventful day.
First, I had my “screening” interview with Northwest Tissue Services this morning. It seemed to go well; although it is always awkward having a one-on-one conversation with someone that I don’t know, and not having a coffee cup or pen in my hand to fiddle with. Otherwise it feels like I’m just staring at the other person blankly. I don’t want to overdo the eye contact, so it helps to have an object of some sort to divert my attention momentarily. You know what I mean? I always wondered why talk shows had coffee cups — now I understand why!
Second, I went to Mode Salon and got a haircut. I couldn’t really afford to get my hair color done this time. My purple-ish highlights have pretty much faded, and I decided that during the job hunt I probably shouldn’t do anything too crazy with my hair anyways. My hair is now barely shoulder length, like a long page boy cut — pretty awesome, I think it fits my personality better. Seeing Kelly was also a real treat, that guy is gorgeous! He looks a bit like David Cook, the American Idol winner. I asked him, an apparently he gets that a lot.
Third, I decided to send an email to another former grad student from my previous lab. It was sort of an out-of-the-blue decision. I’ve started thinking about going back to grad school to maybe complete my master’s degree. I’d also like to take a lot of basic science classes that I avoided when I was at Dartmouth; classes like chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, genetics, etc.
I’m curious to hear what she has to say … especially about finding a new lab, and how the transition worked out for her. To my surprise, within five minutes after sending the email, she replied back to me. I’ll be meeting with her for lunch on Monday. I’m looking forward to it as a potentially enlightening experience.
I’m about to run out the door again to have happy hour with a friend of mine. We agreed to meet up at least once a month so we don’t lose touch.
I’m beginning to feel a little tired and achey … I hope I’m not getting sick??

[...] Remember how I posted that I was going to meet with that girl who used to be in my former lab? Well, turns out I completely forgot. I just finished writing her an apologetic email. Oh my gosh, [...]
